Staying Cool, Paper Style

Most of the shop displays are already ushering in a season that has not even arrived. Meanwhile, I'm attempting to stay cool in this late summer heat with iced tea, ice cream and popsicles. If you don't have some at hand (er, in your mouth) maybe the following paper goods can tie you over.

Dear friends, I have purple hues on the brain. I am bored with my usual color palette of chartreuse and corals.

Let's not forget our shopping spree for the new space! ;)

Lundi Love: Calligraphy

I love the art of calligraphy. When my husband and I were working on our wedding invitations we wanted the envelopes addressed to guests in calligraphy. Alas, we did not have the budget for it so we did it ourselves. My husband was better at it than I, so he performed much of the hand-written task.

If you are in need of a calligrapher's service, or just enjoy the art, here are my favorites:

Wishing you all a wonderful lundi (Monday)!

A Paris Scrapbook (and Some Thoughts...)

Creating scrapbooks should not be complicated, but at times I make it so. I overthink the design process, worry extensively whether the pages are beautiful enough, and then what happens? I end up falling behind on my scrap layouts, and the plans become just good intentions.

This is why I love Amy's scrapbook on her recent Europe trip. The pages abound with mementos, journaling, and photos in such a non-complicated way, yet still manage to capture my attention (and not just because she went to Paris! ;) ). She was even able to complete some pages before she returned to the States.

To those of you who scrapbook (whether paper, digital, or hybrid), what tips can you share on becoming a more productive "scrapper?"

lundi love: pie in a jar

Bon Monday, dear friends! Have you found something new to love and enjoy for the new week? Right now I am crazy about these:

Pie in a jar! It does not seem like it's a new concept, but it is to me and I cannot get enough of it! I found recipes at not martha and Our Best Bites. I just need (that's right: need!) to purchase some 1/2 pint canning jars.

CHA Summer 2010: Booths

Happy August! The summer show of the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) just culminated a few days ago. Two things I always look forward to after industry shows: the new products (mais oui) and the booths/ displays. Some of my favorites:

Hambly: Apparently that lamp is from Ikea, hacked!

Maya Road: Love the use of the dress form
