Book Chic

Confession time: I don't care for summer. The heat causes my face look like a greasy lobster, and it makes me grumpy. Quelle horreur! So far we had one episode of heat wave in San Diego, and for the most part the weather has been cooperating with me (temperature in mid-70s, with breezes). But we still have August and September to contend with!

I got this in my in-box recently, which made me look forward to autumn even more. I love these ensembles by Melange (a boutique in Oregon), which were inspired by literature.

My favorite look is "Pure Fiction." Et vous?

Petite Home in Portsmouth

Here is the 700-square foot home of New Hampshire-based designer Lisa Teague, which I found via House of Turquoise. With the cool color palette one would never guess that this was house was smaller than most.

the warm walls add an element of surprise

Petite Business: Ephemera

I have never been to Iowa, but when I have an opportunity to go I'd visit Ephemera in Des Moines. Ephemera is a design boutique owned by two best friends. The shop is filled with products by independent artisans, and custom graphic design services are available as well. Now this is a place where I can get inspired!

Their custom stationery portfolio is still in the works on their site, but I bet it's amazing!

Beauty From Pain

Mes amies, how's your summer? I know posting has been light as of late, but life has been overwhelming (some good, some bad). Suffice to say that I could really use alot of prayer. I thank God for family and friends who have been supportive and understanding.

Speaking of life troubles, I read this article (by way of moodboard) with great interest and admiration. I know it's so easy to have tunnel vision when we are confronted with adversity, and more difficult to see the beauty in the pain. Sandra Foster, the owner of this tiny cottage, has had her share of struggles. But what a gorgeous refuge she has created!
