This past weekend, when I visited my parents, I brought my Domino: The Book of Decorating because my mom wanted to borrow it. She said that the danger in browsing interior design books and shelter magazines is that one can easily create a long wish list of things to change in his or her space. Sound familiar?
Recently I just added the nail head ottoman, like this Visconti storage ottoman , to my ever- growing wish list after seeing it in a magazine.
Isn't it gorgeous? I love the trim and the shape, which is a welcome departure from the usual linear angles of many storage ottomans available in the market. It can be an extra seating or a casual side table for a living room, while simultaneously acting as a hiding spot for toys, remote controls, or blankets. I was surprised to learn that it's lacquer and not leather, though I would expect the latter for $875. But you know that a high price tag usually doesn't deter me--- time for a DIY project!
Here's an ottoman from Target:

I think it's begging to be embellished with nail heads, don't you agree? I found some instructions on adding nail head trim on Chopsticks & Pearls (cute blog name!), Matters of Style, and Freckles Chick.
It seems like from reading the various DIY testimonials that it's better to use a nail head trim kit, rather than hammering individual nail heads. Stay tuned! :)
