Nice Knowing Ya, Blueprint

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Announced that it will cease publishing bimonthly issues of its Blueprint. Wah! Reason? To "invest more heavily in its digital and weddings divisions" acccording to Reuters. Just from talking to other women in blogland, I was surprised at the announcement. I don't know it's the economy or what, but it seems that it has been tough for magazines to survive as of late. First it was Jane, then Home and Garden, and now Blueprint. I suppose that http://www.marthastewart.com/hitched is more profitable, but a wedding is a one-time event. Taking care of the home and having personal style are part of one's daily life.

I have been a fan since its inaugural issue, and it was improving with each month. I was about to renew my subscription, but now I won't. Subscribers who would otherwise have left over issues will probably be receiving Martha Stewart Living. The last stand-alone issue will be Jan/ Feb 2008. The magazine's blog, Bluelines, will continue to be updated. Who knows? Maybe Martha and company will come out with Blueprint as a special issue every now and then.
